Verify a technician
Is the person at your door really from Halcyon?
Door-to-door pest control sales are a common cover for scams. Here is how to tell a real technician from someone using our name, in under a minute.
Step one, and the one that matters most
Ask to see the state-issued ID card.
A real technician shows it before you ask.
Florida requires every employee who performs or sells pest control to carry an identification card issued by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, with the employee's photograph and signature, and to show it to the customer on request. A WDO inspector's card also shows the special training that inspection work requires.
Check that the photo matches the face, and the name matches the person the office told you to expect. If there is no state card, there is no visit: close the door and call us.
Step two
Our company badge
Every Halcyon technician also wears a company badge with a photo, a first name and a badge number that starts with HP. The badge is extra. The state card is what counts.

Step three
What a real technician will and will not do
A Halcyon technician will
- Show the state-issued ID card before you ask, with a photo and a name that match the person in front of you
- Arrive in a marked vehicle, at the time the office confirmed with you
- Have your address and the reason for the visit on a work order
- Leave a service ticket listing what was applied, where, and what to do next
A Halcyon technician will never
- Ask for cash, or for payment at the door. Billing goes through the office.
- Ask to be let in alone, or into rooms that are not part of the service
- Knock unannounced to sell a plan. We do not sell door to door.
- Push you to sign today because "your neighbors just signed up"
Demo lookup
Check a name and badge number
Type the first name and the badge number from the company badge. If they do not match a current technician, do not let them in.
This demo holds two sample records. Try badge HP-1042 with the name Marcus to see one.

State certification categories on file
Now ask to see the state-issued ID card. The name and photo on it should match this record.
No current technician matches that name and badge number.
Do not let them in. Call the office at (727) 555-0161, a number you looked up yourself, not one the person at the door gave you.
Still unsure? Call the office before you open the door.
We can tell you in a minute whether a technician is scheduled at your address. Mon-Sat 7 AM-6 PM.
